The 3mm outer diameter is compatible with the TEM sample holder; the 2mm inside diameter leaves enough space to embed the sample(s). The sample is embedded with a suitable epoxy (such as Hysol or Torr-Seal), after that a thin section is cut with a micro-saw and finally thinned for TEM imaging by mechanical polishing or ion-beam polishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EM-Tec embedding tubes are offered in different materials to avoid cross contamination with the sample. Standard outside diameter is 3mm; inside diameter is 2mm.
